[Hiring] Finance Analyst @Daybreak Health

Role Description

As Finance Analyst, you’ll sit at the center of Daybreak’s finance function, with equal footing in accounting and financial planning. On the accounting side, you’ll own the month-end close process and make sure the numbers leadership, our board, and our investors rely on are accurate, timely, and well supported. On the planning side, you’ll build and maintain the financial models that help us forecast, budget, and decide where to invest. You’ll work directly with the Sr. Director of Finance, who reviews your work and shapes your growth.

Our economics are more interesting than most: revenue comes from school district contracts and insurance reimbursement, and our largest cost is clinician pay. That makes both the accounting and the modeling a real analytical challenge. Getting accruals and revenue recognition right is the foundation, and modeling clinician capacity, utilization, payer mix, and contract economics is how we plan.

You’ll also be a finance partner to the business. Working with leaders across Clinical, Operations, Revenue Cycle, and Go-to-Market, you’ll explain what’s driving revenue and margin and contribute to strategic finance work that shapes how we grow.

This role suits someone who wants both sides of finance: an accountant ready to grow into modeling and FP&A, or an analyst with strong modeling skills and a solid accounting foundation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a degree in finance or a related field with substantial accounting coursework.
• 2–4 years of accounting or finance experience, including hands-on responsibility for month-end close activities and exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or financial planning.
• Demonstrated financial modeling experience: you’ve built or significantly maintained models such as an operating model, budget, forecast, or driver-based revenue model, and can explain how they work.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and accrual accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis.
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including lookups, conditional aggregation, and well-structured, auditable models.
• Hands-on experience with a modern GL/accounting system (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
• Curiosity about the business and comfort partnering with non-finance stakeholders, with clear written and verbal communication that explains results to non-finance colleagues.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities independently in a remote setting.

Requirements

• CPA or CPA candidacy.
• Experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or business partnering at a startup or high-growth company.
• Experience in healthcare, health tech, revenue cycle or insurance billing, or K-12 contracts.
• Experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606) and AR for variable or third-party payer revenue.
• Experience with planning tools (such as Adaptive) and with dashboarding or BI tools.
• Comfort using AI tools to speed up analysis.
• Experience supporting audits, tax filings, or investor reporting.
