[Hiring] Director of Finance @NDWA

Role Description

The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented, and mission-driven Director of Finance to lead financial management across Care in Action (501(c)(4)), its PAC, and affiliated entities including NDWA Labs. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this role serves as the primary financial steward for Care in Action, with responsibility for:

• Budgeting
• Financial reporting
• Treasury management
• Audit
• Grants compliance
• Financial governance

The Director of Finance manages monthly close, expense and treasury approvals, and intercompany transactions across multiple entities; serves as Board Treasurer and the lead point of contact for external auditors; and works in close coordination with NDWA's accounting team, the Development department, legal/compliance staff, and senior leadership to ensure the financial health, accuracy, and sustainability of the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive financial management experience in a nonprofit organization.
• Direct, hands-on financial management experience with a 501(c)(4) organization.
• Experience managing finances across multiple related nonprofit entities.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare, analyze, and present financial statements.
• Strong understanding of restricted and unrestricted fund accounting.
• Experience managing an audit process and working with external auditors.
• Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Alignment with NDWA's and Care in Action's mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent credential a plus.
• Experience with PAC financial management and reporting.
• Proficiency with Financial Edge (Blackbaud) accounting software.
• Experience with Martus budgeting software or comparable budget management tools.
• Experience with Divvy, Bill.com, Expensify, or similar expense management platforms.
• Familiarity with Salesforce for grant tracking and reporting.
• Prior experience coordinating with the Board of Directors.
• Demonstrated commitment to racial, economic, and gender justice.

Benefits

• Salary: $110,000 to $120,000
• Work Location: Remote (U.S.-based); flexible, with in-person attendance as required
• Target Start Date: As soon as possible
