Role Description

We’re looking for a Controller who can own our internal finances, bring useful insight to leadership, and improve the systems behind the work. This is a hands-on role where you’ll personally manage:

• Accounting
• Billing
• Receivables
• Payables
• Payroll
• Close activities

You'll also oversee benefits administration and selected operational projects connected to finance, employees, vendors, insurance, and systems.

Success means dependable financial operations, fewer surprises, and leadership that can act on the numbers with confidence.

Qualifications

• Strong accounting experience, including full accounting cycle ownership.
• Financial judgment to build forecasts and interpret results.
• Hands-on ownership of recurring work and process improvement.
• Payroll and operational fluency.
• Strong Excel and systems skills.
• Clear communication of financial information.
• Sound discretion in handling sensitive information.
• Curiosity with follow-through on process improvements.
• Experience in a CPA firm or professional-services business is helpful.
• CPA or CMA credential and benefits administration experience are welcome advantages.

Requirements

• Maintain accurate books and records for R.D. Barnett PLLC and PracticeDen.
• Complete and review reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close work.
• Own accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Maintain a weekly cadence for invoices, payments, A/R reconciliation, and collections.
• Apply and reconcile payments across various systems.
• Resolve billing discrepancies and unusual transactions.
• Prepare excise-tax filings and maintain supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with outside partners for accounting, tax, banking, and insurance.
• Perform higher-level reviews of financial activity and records.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow projections.
• Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and operational trends.
• Translate financial results into clear recommendations for leadership.
• Own payroll preparation, verification, and processing.
• Manage routine benefit enrollments and employee communication.
• Establish practical financial controls and documented procedures.
• Manage finance-related vendor relationships.
• Improve workflows across various tools.

• Salary: $110,000-$135,000, based on experience.
