Role Description

What you'll do:

• Close & Financial Reporting
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across seven legal entities.
  • Prepare and review entity-level and consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain the general ledger and review journal entries, accruals, balance-sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Own intercompany accounting, allocations, reconciliations, and eliminations.
  • Establish the close calendar, accounting procedures, review steps, and internal controls.
  • Investigate accounting discrepancies and ensure material balances can be supported and explained.
• Cash, AR & AP
  • Maintain visibility into cash across all entities, including expected receipts and scheduled disbursements.
  • Build and maintain a rolling 13-week cash forecast and compare forecasted activity with actual results.
  • Oversee invoicing, collections, aging, cash application, vendor payments, and related reconciliations.
  • Establish approval controls and review standards for transactional accounting.
  • Remain hands-on enough to investigate exceptions and complete transactional work when required.
• Managed Services Accounting
  • MRR and ARR reporting.
  • Recurring agreement billing and true-ups.
  • Software and license reconciliation.
  • Deferred and unbilled revenue.
  • ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Job and project costing.
  • Customer and service-line profitability.
  • Identification of missed billing and margin leakage.
• Reporting & Financial Analysis
  • Deliver monthly management reporting, including budget-to-actual results and variance commentary.
  • Analyze revenue, gross margin, working capital, and profitability.
  • Support annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario analysis.
  • Support the CFO with lender reporting, covenant calculations, pricing analysis, acquisitions, and other projects requiring reliable financial information.
• Tax & Compliance
  • Coordinate recurring operational tax compliance across the organization.
  • Maintain sales-tax nexus, registration, and exemption-certificate processes.
  • Coordinate specialist tax matters with outside advisors.
  • Maintain the accounting schedules and documentation required for tax, audit, lender, and transaction-related requests.
• Systems & Automation
  • Our current systems include HaloPSA, QuickBooks Enterprise, Rippling, HubSpot, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with our exact technology stack is not required. You should have hands-on experience with QuickBooks or a comparable accounting system.
  • You should understand how financial information moves between operating systems and the general ledger, how to reconcile it, and how to identify when something is wrong.
  • Identify recurring accounting work that can be standardized or automated without weakening accounting controls or review.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience owning or materially leading a monthly close.
• Multi-entity accounting.
• Consolidated financial statements.
• Intercompany accounting and eliminations.
• General-ledger accounting and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• GAAP financial reporting.
• AR/AP oversight.
• Cash reporting and forecasting.
• Practical multistate sales and use tax experience, including nexus, taxability, exemption certificates, registrations, and recurring compliance.
• Reviewing or managing the work of accounting staff.
• Advanced Excel.
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
• CPA or CMA credentials are valued but not required.

• Government contractors or Defense Industrial Base customers.

What Success Looks Like

• Within your first 90 days, you should understand the accounting structure, material balance-sheet accounts, intercompany relationships, cash position, billing processes, systems, and close procedures across all seven entities.
• Within six months, we expect a documented monthly close with defined responsibilities and review steps; reconciled material balance-sheet and intercompany accounts; a reliable 13-week cash forecast; consistent entity-level and consolidated financial reporting; and documented controls for the highest-risk accounting processes.
• Within your first year, the accounting function should be able to add another entity without rebuilding its core processes from scratch.
