Role Description
The Experience Verification Certified Public Accountant position supports the Client Services Licensing Services department. This contractor position acts as an independent contractor and not as an agent or employee of NASBA and shall perform the work assigned as instructed by NASBA. The Experience Verification CPA must hold a current license and follow specific procedures in performing all duties related to business operations.
The Experience Verification CPA works independently handling assigned activities relating to information processing, research, and interpreting rules in responding to individuals regarding State Board requirements. Program duties are considered at the advanced level and require considerable knowledge, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive or confidential matters. Work requires a broad knowledge of the CPA profession and involves detailed processes.
The work requires considerable independence and self-initiative in planning and carrying out activities and short and long-term processing assignments. Work also requires strong grammatical and proofing skills and office and specialized technology skills. Sound judgment is required in selecting and applying the appropriate course of action though similar statute and rule situations occur with some regularity.
Responsibilities and Duties

Verify experience of the applicant for purposes of meeting respective state board licensing requirements.

Review documentation provided by the client manager to prepare for the interview with the applicant.

Interview each applicant to confirm the applicant meets the respective jurisdiction licensing requirements for experience by using the documentation provided.

Completing required forms for the CPA verifier for the respective jurisdiction board licensing application and submitting the finalized documentation for board of accountancy to review.

Develop, advance, and maintain a strong relationship with applicants and support departments within NASBA.

Effectively communicate the client boardβs specific policies and procedures, eligibility and compliance requirements, and professional next steps to prospective candidates, applicants, and licensed professionals.

Conduct research and maintain current knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and statutes to ensure compliance with all state regulatory requirements for CPA licensure.

Notify applicants of application receipt, problems, missing documents, and eligibility/approval.

Participate in or attend meetings related to Experience Verification.

Maintain superior customer service.

Respond to internal and external inquiries via email and telephone within a 48-hour time frame.

Protect organization's values by keeping applicants personally identifiable information (PII) confidential.

Adhere to all documented policies and procedures.

Work well under pressure and consistently meet established work timelines.

Back up other staff as needed.

Must hold a current Certified Public Accounting License.
