Role Description

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced equity analysts, sector portfolio managers, and event-driven investors with deep industry expertise and strong primary-source research skills to contribute to advanced financial forecasting and AI evaluation projects.

Selected professionals will:

• Analyse how company-specific events propagate through economic networks.
• Identify related companies using primary filings and industry information.
• Estimate how catalysts may affect revenue, margins, earnings, or valuation.
• Conduct disciplined point-in-time analysis using only information available at the stated evidence cutoff, without hindsight or material non-public information.

Key Responsibilities

• Company & Economic Network Mapping
  • Map suppliers, customers, competitors, distributors, substitutes, and other economically related companies.
  • Use EDGAR filings, footnotes, exhibits, earnings transcripts, and industry data as primary research sources.
  • Identify meaningful commercial relationships rather than relying on broad thematic classifications.
  • Assess geographic and end-market exposure where relevant.
  • Build structured views of how companies interact within a specific industry.
• Event Propagation Analysis
  • Identify companies likely to be affected by upcoming corporate or industry events.
  • Distinguish direct economic exposure from weak or incidental correlation.
  • Analyse how catalysts may transmit through supply chains, customers, competitors, and adjacent markets.
  • Identify first-order and secondary effects where supported by available information.
  • Apply sector-specific judgement to determine which relationships are economically material.
• Financial Impact Assessment
  • Estimate the expected direction and magnitude of event-related impacts.
  • Evaluate appropriate time horizons for potential effects.
  • Assign confidence levels based on the quality and strength of available information.
  • Explain whether the mechanism operates through revenue, margins, earnings, valuation, or another financial driver.
  • Document assumptions and uncertainties underlying each analytical conclusion.
• Point-in-Time Research & Forecasting
  • Reason strictly from information available at a specified evidence cutoff.
  • Avoid hindsight, data leakage, and information released after the stated date.
  • Reconstruct the analytical view a strong practitioner could reasonably have formed at that moment.
  • Support conclusions using contemporaneously available filings, transcripts, and industry information.
  • Maintain clear separation between observed facts, analytical assumptions, and forward-looking judgement.
• AI Evaluation & Research Quality
  • Review model-generated company and event-propagation analyses.
  • Compare outputs against expert-authored reference analysis.
  • Identify unsupported relationships, missed exposures, or weak causal reasoning.
  • Evaluate whether impact estimates are consistent with the identified economic mechanism.
  • Provide structured feedback that supports consistent financial-analysis evaluation.

Qualifications

• Senior sector portfolio manager, lead equity analyst, event-driven investor, or comparable investment professional.
• Deep expertise in at least one specific industry or sector.
• Typically 8+ years of directly relevant experience, or substantial equivalent professional experience.
• Strong hands-on experience mapping company relationships from primary filings.
• Extensive use of EDGAR filings, footnotes, exhibits, earnings transcripts, and related primary sources.
• Demonstrated ability to distinguish direct economic exposure from thematic or statistical correlation.
• Strong understanding of corporate revenue, margin, earnings, and valuation drivers.
• Experience making live investment or event-driven judgments rather than exclusively retrospective commentary.
• Strong causal reasoning and ability to explain how catalysts transmit through an industry.
• Experience with sector research, multi-manager investing, event-driven strategies, asset management, banking research, or specialist research is highly relevant.
• Strong written communication and ability to document assumptions clearly.
• Ability to produce structured, defensible analysis under fixed information constraints.
• Brand-name institutional experience is valuable but not required where direct experience and work quality are strong.

Engagement Details

• Independent contractor engagement.
• Fully remote.
• Compensation: $150–$250/hour.
• Work will involve company-network mapping, event-propagation analysis, financial-impact estimation, point-in-time forecasting, and AI-output evaluation.
• Assignments may require analysis of suppliers, customers, competitors, distributors, substitutes, and geographic exposures.
• Research should rely on contemporaneously available primary filings, transcripts, exhibits, footnotes, and relevant industry information.
• All tasks must be completed using only information available at the specified evidence cutoff.
• Hindsight, data leakage, confidential information, and material non-public information must not be used.
• Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project needs and performance.
• Payments are made weekly through Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
• H1-B and STEM OPT candidates cannot currently be supported.
• Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, fund, institution, company, or other third party.
