[Hiring] Commercial Portfolio Manager @South State Bank

Role Description

The SAM Commercial Portfolio Manager supports the Special Assets commercial loan portfolio of one or more SAM Commercial Resolutions Officers (CRO) and Team Leads (TL) providing quality underwriting and sound portfolio management that reduces problem assets and minimizes losses to the bank.

• Analyzes financial information to evaluate the credit worthiness of renewals, modifications, and forbearance loan requests and ongoing Portfolio Management activities.
• Compiles commercial loan packages ensuring completeness and accuracy of information provided.
• Completes additional credit analysis through more in-depth tools outside of traditional spreads and global cash flow.
• Guides the loan request through the Credit Approval Process.
• Assures compliance with State and Federal regulations and Bank policies.
• Monitors and services the commercial loan portfolios of the supported CRO and TL.
• Reviews commercial portfolio for opportunities for potential upgrades.
• Properly grades risk of each loan in the assigned portfolio.
• Assists CRO and TL in credit presentation to Credit Administration or other leaders and Committees.
• Ensures all required documentation is in file for all loans.
• Periodically engages with customers for the collection of financial information.
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal business partners.
• Undertakes special projects as determined by the Director of Special Assets or SAM Commercial Resolutions TL.
• Continuously updates skills by participating in professional training.
• Works with CRO and TL to monitor maturing loans.
• Demonstrates a commitment to fair lending practices.
• Builds and maintains a positive working relationship with attorneys, appraisers, vendors, and others.
• Stays abreast of products and services the Bank is providing.
• Adheres to all corporate policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations and laws.
• Has responsibility for following regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and OFAC.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field; Graduation from a recognized school of banking is an asset or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit analysis, commercial banking, business banking with at least 5 years of specific portfolio management and/or underwriting experience.
• Knowledge in accounting and lending principles, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge of Federal and State lending regulations and Bank policies related to lending procedures.
