[Hiring] Chief Financial Officer @How to Manage a Small Law Firm

Role Description

HTM helps solo and small law firm owners build more profitable businesses. As our CFO & Business Advisor, you’ll be the financial leader and trusted advisor to about 30 law firm owners. Law firms are professional services businesses, where the people are the production engine. You’ll advise on:

• Pricing
• Margins
• Cash flow
• Hiring
• Growth

You will build the models, forecasts, and KPI dashboards yourself. We provide the portfolio of potential clients and the systems. No cold calling or prospecting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years as a CFO or the most senior finance leader, including fractional, outsourced, or virtual CFO work.
• Experience advising several owners or business lines at the same time.
• Understanding of utilization, realization, capacity, and revenue per head from consulting, engineering, accounting, architecture, IT services, or similar firms.
• Proven track record of improving profitability, pricing, or margins.
• Profit First certified or a similar mindset.
• Legal experience is not required; training on law-firm specifics will be provided.

Requirements

• Full-time W-2 position with no outside work or consulting.
• Not a controller, bookkeeping, treasury, SEC reporting, capital raising, M&A, or nonprofit finance role.
• Background in real estate, construction, or manufacturing may require a learning curve.

Benefits

• $110,000 guaranteed base salary, plus incremental compensation for each client served, up to 30 clients.
• Targeted total compensation of $160,000 to $182,000.
