Role Description

The Billing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily billing operations for post-acute healthcare services, including Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Home Health, Hospice, and Rehabilitation. This role supervises Billing Specialists, monitors claim submission activities, resolves billing escalations, ensures compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements, and supports revenue cycle performance objectives.

The Billing Supervisor serves as a key liaison between billing staff, leadership, and outsourced Revenue Cycle Organization (RCO) partners, driving billing accuracy, operational efficiency, denial reduction, and accounts receivable optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support Billing Specialists, including training, coaching, and performance management.
• Oversee claim generation, submission, rejection resolution, and unbilled AR management.
• Monitor billing accuracy, payer compliance, and timely claim submission.
• Review and resolve complex billing issues, denials, and escalations.
• Track key metrics including Days in AR, Clean Claim Rate, Denial Rate, and Net Collection Rate.
• Collaborate with outsourced billing vendors and internal stakeholders to improve revenue cycle performance.
• Develop reports and analyze billing trends to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, payer guidelines, and company policies.
• Support audits, system enhancements, and revenue cycle initiatives.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support organizational goals and revenue cycle objectives.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience building professional relationships with stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3+ years of healthcare billing or revenue cycle experience.
• Prior team lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial billing requirements.
• Experience with EMR/RCM systems such as Epic, PointClickCare, WellSky, MatrixCare, or similar.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in SNF, Home Health, Hospice, or Rehabilitation billing.
• Knowledge of PDPM and PDGM reimbursement models.
• Experience working with outsourced Revenue Cycle Organizations (RCOs).
• CRCR, CPC, CPB, HFMA, or similar certification.

Physical Requirements

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $60,000 – $75,000 annually (or hourly equivalent). Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and business needs.

Additional Compensation

This role may also be eligible for additional compensation, including but not limited to:

• Discretionary performance-based incentives or bonuses.
