Role Description
Join AAFCPAs as a Senior Accountant in Audit and play a key role in delivering high-quality audit services to a diverse portfolio of commercial clients. We are seeking an experienced audit professional with strong commercial audit experience, ideally including experience working with cannabis businesses and/or other highly regulated industries.

Manage multifaceted and complex assignments for a variety of clients and businesses.

Guide other team members in audit engagements.

Demonstrate a breadth and depth of professional knowledge and technical skills.

Collaborate with AAFCPAs’ multidisciplinary team to meet clients’ evolving needs.

Share accountability with the manager and partner in ensuring timely and accurate service delivery and optimal client satisfaction.

Lead audit engagement teams with an emphasis on clear communication, collaboration, and flexibility.

Ensure deliverables are provided at agreed upon timelines.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; active pursuit of CPA license preferred.

3+ years of public accounting audit experience with commercial clients.

Experience auditing cannabis businesses or other highly regulated industries strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of GAAP, auditing standards, and common commercial audit risk areas.

Understanding of accounting and audit considerations specific to cannabis businesses, including inventory, revenue recognition, cash management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance, is a plus.

Ability to manage audit engagements from planning through completion while effectively leveraging manager and partner resources.

Strong technical accounting, research, and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex audit issues.

Ability to work independently while proactively communicating issues and questions to engagement managers and partners.

Strong time management, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to build trusted relationships with clients and communicate effectively with client management.

Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise engagement teams, provide meaningful feedback, and develop staff.

Encourage open dialogue, collaboration, and ongoing communication within engagement teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present audit findings and recommendations to clients.

Ability to identify opportunities to improve engagement efficiency and implement best practices.

Understand engagement risks and ensure compliance with firm policies and professional standards.

Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

The salary range for this position is $89,000 – $104,000 per year, not inclusive of bonus potential.
