Role Description
The Accounting Manager helps deliver accounting and finance operations for the organization, including the preparation and analysis of financial reports, reconciliation, payroll, and the supervision and development of the accounting staff. Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Accounting Manager will have an operational mindset, ensuring compliance with finance and accounting standards, regulations, and best practices, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting in a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with the accounting standards and internal policies.

Complete the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all reconciliations, adjustments, and accruals.

Oversee the daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, staff payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger.

Influence operational improvements through system enhancements and software and workflow efficiencies.

Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities, and ensure compliance with statutory and legal requirements.

Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning.

Monitor and maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting systems, controls, and procedures, and suggest improvements.

Analyze and interpret financial data and trends and provide insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

Support the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts and assist with variance analysis and reporting.

Research and update the accounting policies and standards in accordance with changes in regulations and best practices.

Perform ad hoc financial projects and tasks as assigned by the CFO or senior management.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field

CPA or equivalent designation is preferred

5+ years of relevant experience in finance/accounting, including 1+ years in a managerial role

Knowledge of accounting standards, principles, and practices, as well as tax and regulatory requirements

Organizational skills to handle multiple projects with conflicting timeliness

Proficiency in accounting software, such as NetSuite or Sage Intacct, and advanced Excel
