Role Description

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee a portfolio of small to mid-sized business clients. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with deep QuickBooks Online expertise who thrives in a client-facing environment.

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 30–40 clients, overseeing full-cycle accounting services including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and month-end close.
• Lead complex reconciliations and cleanup/catch-up engagements, ensuring accuracy, organization, and audit-ready books.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in QuickBooks Online, optimizing workflows and ensuring best practices across client accounts.
• Oversee 1099 preparation and property tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate completion in coordination with internal teams.
• Act as a primary point of contact for clients, reviewing financial results, answering questions, and providing practical accounting guidance to support informed business decisions.
• Supervise and mentor one direct report, reviewing work for accuracy and fostering a high standard of service delivery.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and improve overall efficiency within the client accounting function.

Qualifications

• 10–20+ years of progressive accounting and bookkeeping experience
• Significant experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously
• Strong background in reconciliations, cleanup engagements, and financial reporting
• Prior supervisory experience preferred
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (required)
• Experience with Oracle is a plus
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and small business financial operations
• Accounting degree preferred but not required
• CPA not required
• Experience and demonstrated expertise are valued over formal credentials
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and client service abilities
• Comfortable working in a fully remote or hybrid environment
