Role Description
BerryDunn is seeking a qualified full-time Accounting Assistant to join our Not-for-Profit Practice Group. You will be responsible for providing support to our assurance team in the Not-for-Profit industry, handling confidential and sensitive information in a discreet and professional manner, and demonstrating organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail. This position is planned to sit in our Portland, ME, Bangor, ME, Manchester, NH, Waltham, MA, or New Haven, CT offices or remote.
The targeted start date for this position is July 2026.
Travel Expectations:

This role requires minimal travel, less than 10% per year.
You Will:

Perform attestation and consulting work as part of our client engagement service team.

Prepare work papers and tasks that are integral to client deliverables.

Assist with electronic filings of required financial information.

Apply basic generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting principles with assistance from a supervisor.

Proof and assist with preparation of client deliverables, including presentations.

Interact with our clients to help manage the flow of requested information.

Know and understand the reason for the firm's policies and procedures.

Establish effective work schedules.

Build and nurture strong working relationships with clients.

Work as an effective team member to complete project components and assignment tasks as scheduled.

Have a passion for learning and growing.
Qualifications

Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Working knowledge of the general ledger, basic financial statements, and adjusting entries.

Attention to detail and quality.

Excellent organizational skills.

Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Ability to stay ahead of projects and manage multiple priorities.

Ability to work both independently and in a team-based, collaborative environment.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

A desire to become an industry subject matter expert and business advisor to clients.
Requirements

The hourly rate for this role is $27.00-$32.00 per hour.

This rate range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting.

The hourly rate for the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
