Role Description
We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Revenue Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in U.S. GAAP, fintech industry experience, and a deep understanding of data reconciliation. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross functional teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition, support financial reporting, and contribute to the development of scalable accounting processes.
- Revenue Recognition: Ensure accurate revenue recognition in compliance with relevant accounting standards. Analyze revenue performance, monitor product-related activity, and ensure accurate classification and recognition.
- Accounting Operations & Close: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Drive the timely and accurate close of revenue-related accounts.
- Data Reconciliation: Perform data reconciliations between financial systems, payment processors, and other relevant platforms to ensure accuracy and completeness of revenue data.
- Collaboration Cross Functionally: Work closely with Product, Financial Operations, Treasury, and Data Analytic teams to design and implement scalable accounting processes. Work closely with Business Finance to support downstream reporting needs.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting through month end close, reconciliations and flux meetings. Ensure that revenue-related financial data is accurately reported.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes. Implement best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy in revenue accounting.
- Data Analysis: Utilize data platform tools to extract, analyze, and reconcile data from various sources. Perform ad hoc analyses to support data reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Audit Support & Compliance: Prepare documentation and provide support for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 2+ years experience in Big 4 public accounting firm or similar. 4-8 years of experience in accounting.
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 606 and its application to technology and financial products.
- Strong Excel skills, proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and financial close tools (e.g. Numeric).
- Understanding of fintech products and services, payment processing, payment flows and the regulatory environment.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to assess accounting implications of complex or evolving business activities.
- Ability to clearly articulate technical accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders and collaborate effectively across teams.
