Role Description

Technical Manager - Municipal Roads & Civil Engineering

Our team is focused on helping our provincial and municipal clients expand and improve their transportation systems through innovative solutions to their tough planning and design challenges. We are looking for an experienced Technical Manager with strong client relationships to add to our Infrastructure – (Roads and Highways) team in the Greater Toronto Region. You will have the flexibility to work from any of our offices in Toronto, Markham, or Oakville and remotely, from home.

The Technical Manager in the Municipal Roadway group will play a pivotal role in advancing the growth of our Transportation Engineering practice in the Greater Toronto Region. This leadership position focuses on developing and executing our business plan in transportation planning, design and management for the various Regions and Municipalities around GTA, Ontario.

• Lead a team of Roadway and Municipal Engineers and Design Specialists.
• Work on multidisciplinary and low to high-complexity transportation and roadway projects.
• Foster roadway business growth within the group and the company.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering, or a related professional discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification and Master’s degree in Transportation is desirable.
• 10+ years of transportation engineering experience, including preliminary and detail design.
• Expert knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal design standards.
• Advanced knowledge of civil engineering theories, principles, legislation, regulations, and technology.
• Firsthand knowledge of related fields in transportation including geotechnical, pavement design, rail and transit, and more.
• Knowledge of relevant software such as Civil3D, AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer, and others.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and multiple simultaneous projects.
• Successful people skills and advanced verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability and experience in training, mentoring, and leading a team.

• Oversee, lead, manage, mentor, and contribute to a team of Roadway and Municipal Engineers and Design Specialists.
• Efficiently manage day-to-day operations of your team.
• Lead and manage design development on a variety of projects.
• Client Engagement as Project Manager on multiple projects.
• Coordinate with other technical disciplines across the organization.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for clients and project management.
• Stay informed of trends, developments, and advancements in the transportation planning and design field.
• Nurture and grow client and industry partner relationships.
• Assist and support the Technical and Program Director in overall strategic and growth requirements.
