[Hiring] Engineering Manager @Maisha Meds

Role Description

Maisha Meds is seeking an engineering manager to manage our wonderful engineers to build technology to improve healthcare in Africa.

This role is remote with expected travel to our countries of operation. You will report to the Chief Technology Officer.

Responsibilities

• People and Team
  • Manage a remote team of 3-6 creative engineers spanning across several projects
  • Foster a welcoming friendly culture
  • Grow and mentor engineers and help them pursue their career interests
  • Provide good feedback for performance management and coaching
  • Recruiting and hiring for your team when necessary
• Technical Leadership
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership (architecture and design, code reviews, and incident management) to your reports
  • Independently contribute to projects 20% of your time to gain a deep technical understanding of the infrastructure end-to-end
  • Preferred prior experience with Ruby on Rails and devops with AWS infrastructure
• Product and Project Management
  • Engage with stakeholders directly and product manage yourself when necessary
  • Translate ambiguous stakeholder desires into concrete requirements and action plans
  • Work across teams and both internal and external stakeholders to execute on projects
  • Understand customers and users and be able to provide product direction

Qualifications

• Experience with Ruby on Rails
• Experience with Vue.js
• Experience with Android Kotlin

Nice to haves

• You have worked at a growing start-up
• You have experience in both B2B and B2C environments
• You have prior experience in healthcare and/or Africa
