Role Description

The System Engineering & Integration Team (SE&IT) is seeking a Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE) to join the System Design and Requirements Capability team in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will:

• Lead cross-functional system engineering teams to develop system level technical solutions for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
• Guide the development of system level architecture, requirements, and interfaces to influence incremental capability.
• Use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to evaluate architectural impacts through functional behavior analysis for the defeat of conventional and advanced Threat systems.
• Collaborate to develop system-of-systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis.
• Lead the development of Change Notices (CNs) to MDA’s system specification including functional, interface and performance requirements, architectural models, and interface definitions.
• Support Trace verification from System to Element level requirements.
• Develop and deliver products (i.e., technical briefings, CNs) to support internal and MDA stakeholder reviews.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background in system thinking, architecture development, functional decomposition, and allocation of requirements.
• Experience with system-modelling tools, MSOSA (Cameo), and DOORS.
• Knowledge in MDA domain areas including Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), and others.
• Ability to think critically and capture concepts in papers, presentations, and discussions.
• Good communication/presentation skills to convey concepts and technical approaches to customers.
• Capable of working independently and within a small team environment.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains.
• Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems.
• Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system.
• Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.

Education

• Degree in an engineering classification, mathematics, or physics: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD.
