[Hiring] Substation Engineer @Primoris Services Corporation

Role Description

We are currently looking for a Substation Engineer to join the Power Solutions team!

• Engineering:
  • Apply sound knowledge of utility substation designs and standards.
  • Provide electrical design for projects like relay upgrades, breaker additions/upgrades, transformer replacements, RTU installations, and new substations.
  • Provide physical design for projects like bus additions, new equipment installations, and new substations.
  • Create project deliverables:
    • Develop scope definitions, estimates, and schedules; collaborate with Project Managers to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Prepare specifications and develop specifications and material lists.
  • Oversee drawings by managing preparation of review sets and final construction sets.
  • Handle project closeout by overseeing as-built revisions.
• Project Communication:
  • Interact with clients, utility personnel, manufacturers’ representatives, and others as needed.
  • Stay informed about developments in electric utility substation design & construction; suggest improvements.
  • Serve as Lead Engineer on assigned projects.
  • Perform site visits to conduct documentation and inspections at job sites as required.
  • Mentor team by training Design Engineers, Designers, and Electrical CAD Technicians.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Electrical Engineering or a Senior Protection & Control Engineer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design and construction.
• Professional Engineering License or Professional Certification (desirable).
• Working knowledge of scheduling software and spreadsheet programs.
• Knowledge of applicable engineering codes.
