[Hiring] Senior PCB CAD Librarian @Viasat, Inc.

Role Description

The PCB CAD Library team develops and maintains the component libraries used in PCB schematic entry and layout, following IPC, industry, and Viasat standards. We are seeking a Sr. PCB CAD Librarian for this group.

• Design schematic symbols, footprints, and parts.
• Prioritize workload based on customer needs and address library-related issues.
• Assist in maintaining Viasat standards and process improvements.
• Provide support to internal customers by creating schematic symbols, footprints, and parts that adhere to IPC, industry, and Viasat standards.
• Validate library parts and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Work directly with other engineering departments regarding Viasat proprietary parts.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• 8+ years of direct experience and expertise in library development.
• Highly proficient with Siemens Xpedition EDM library tools (e.g., EDM Library Cockpit and EDM Librarian).
• Deep understanding of IPC-7351 specifications.
• Able to read and understand component datasheets.
• Ability to use various standards (IPC, Industry, and Viasat) and methods to develop schematic symbols and footprints accordingly.
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
• Full understanding of the interactions required with functional support groups (e.g., Component Engineering, Electrical Engineering, PCB CAD Design, etc.).
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to continually learn new technologies and processes.
• Demonstrate the ability to problem-solve and resolve issues through change control or other methods.
• Ability to travel <10%.

Requirements

• Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is a plus.
• Experience working in Jira.
• Agile and/or PLM experience.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Technical degree or equivalent experience.

Benefits

• Salary range: $99,500.00 - $157,000.00 / annually.
• For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area, and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $123,500.00 - $185,500.00 / annually.
• Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
• Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package.
