Role Description

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a vital part in delivering outstanding service and solutions to our clients on a range of projects, including:

• Electrical equipment assessments
• Power & system design
• Lighting system design
• Fire alarm system design consulting
• Feasibility reports

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
• Minimum 15 years experience in electrical systems design for buildings and building systems.
• Registration, or active progress toward registration, with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is an asset.
• Specialized experience in transformers, switch-gear, equipment fault protection, automation and control, annunciation, lighting, emergency power, power distribution, and associated equipment and systems.
• Advanced understanding of quality standards relative to electrical design and planning, engineering fundamentals and principles.
• Knowledge of Electrical Safety Code regulations for relevant jurisdiction.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail coupled with a client-centric mindset.
• Team player who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to creative thinking and continuous learning.
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation required.

Requirements

• Lead multiple electrical design projects from original concept design to complete preparation of construction documents and specifications.
• Assist and lead the establishment of project strategy and vision.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to more junior engineering staff members.
• Review working drawings to ensure adherence to jurisdictional codes.
• Liaise with key stakeholders to resolve issues and maximize profitability.
• Support the Engineering Manager and Project Principals in managing workloads and resources.
• Perform analysis, design, and model of complex electrical building systems.
• Ensure design elements adhere to relevant jurisdictional codes.
• Lead the writing of design reports and system feasibility determinations.
• Support project coordination and contribute to successful project delivery.
• Represent Sense at client meetings and networking functions.
• Other duties as assigned/required.

• Base salary range is $125,000 to $140,000 (commensurate with experience).
