In this role, you will serve as a technical authority on the Elastic Stack, drive architectural decisions, and oversee modernization roadmaps that impact large-scale government environments. You are an experienced engineer who can guide teams, influence strategy, and deliver robust, scalable solutions across highly complex data ecosystems. If you are ready to apply deep Elasticsearch expertise to mission-driven work, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced dashboards, scripted queries, alerting strategies, and analytics in Kibana.
  • Lead the development and governance of ingestion and extraction workflows using Apache NiFi.
  • Drive enhancements to the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE).
  • Oversee performance tuning, cluster health, resilience, and observability across distributed environments.
  • Provide technical leadership within SAFe teams, advising on system design, data patterns, and integration impacts.
  • Apply enterprise-level data security, compliance, and migration best practices.
  • Maintain deep awareness of the latest Elastic Stack capabilities, evaluate new features, and develop multi-phase upgrade roadmaps, including impact analysis for application code, APIs, integrations, and external dependencies.

  • Eight or more years of progressive engineering experience, to include 2 or more years of hands-on professional Elasticsearch work.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Elasticsearch internals, cluster tuning, scaling strategies, shard allocation, and snapshot management.
  • Advanced experience with Kibana analytics, scripted fields, pipeline aggregations, alerting, and observability.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills as well as experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with AWS services such as S3, RDS, and EKS, or equivalent cloud-based data platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence architectural direction.
  • Willing and able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Requirements

  • Experience with vector search engines, embeddings, similarity algorithms, and hybrid search approaches.
  • Familiarity with machine learning-driven observability, including anomaly detection, log and metric correlation, and predictive alerting.
  • Experience with relational database management system platforms, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in Groovy, Python, or similar scripting languages for automation and pipeline orchestration.
  • Understanding of containerized deployments and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
  • Elastic certifications, such as Engineer, Analyst, Observability, or similar.
  • AWS Certifications such as Solutions Architect etc.
  • Experience with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD, GitLab, or Jenkins.
  • Background in machine learning or data science workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across diverse technical and functional teams.
  • Proven success supporting or leading efforts in fast-paced, mission-driven environments.

Benefits

  • A culture of integrity.
  • An environment of trust.
  • A focus on continuous growth.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and learning and development opportunities.
