Role Description

The Senior Application Engineer serves as a technical authority and strategic commercial partner within the rotating equipment and turbomachinery manufacturing sector. This role is responsible for leading the design, proposal development, and commercial execution of mission-critical centrifugal machinery including compressors, steam turbines, expanders, and pumps—for major global clients across Petrochemical, LNG, and emerging Clean Energy markets.

• Serve as a technical subject matter expert in the application and system integration of centrifugal rotating equipment.
• Architect and deliver competitive, high-reliability technical proposals and engineered-to-order solutions tailored to client specifications.
• Deliver joint technical and commercial leadership to expand market share, support sales pursuits, and advance key strategic business initiatives.
• Serve as the primary technical bridge across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with extensive understanding of aerodynamic and thermodynamic performance principles.
• Proven design and application knowledge of centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, expanders, pumps, and key auxiliary packages.
• Strong mechanical and analytical capabilities in rotordynamics, bearings, seals, metallurgy/materials, and dynamic/thermal stress and strain.
• Proven techno-commercial capability to strategically balance equipment cost, performance, delivery lead times, and operating reliability.
• Familiarity with target sectors and emerging sustainability markets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency with engineering application software and standard productivity tools.
• Ability to travel an average of 4–6 times per year.

Requirements

• Thoroughly analyze customer inquiries, design requests, and tender specifications.
• Perform comprehensive machine sizing and engineering analyses.
• Define the scope of supply for equipment packages and auxiliary systems.
• Build accurate cost models encompassing core hardware and project-specific costs.
• Author technical specifications for major purchased auxiliary equipment.
• Assemble and issue comprehensive proposal packages.
• Assist sales representatives in delivering technical presentations.
• Rapidly resolve technical and commercial queries throughout the bidding cycle.
• Revise and re-rate equipment configurations as project parameters evolve.
• Participate directly in pre-award meetings and contract negotiation discussions.
• Transition awarded contracts smoothly to project execution teams.
• Prepare final design specifications and baseline engineering documents.
• Lead and attend internal and client-facing kick-off meetings.
• Compile and deliver comprehensive project handover packages.
• Serve as the continuous technical and commercial consultant to the Project Manager.
• Develop and refine standardized workflows to accelerate inquiry turnaround times.
• Enhance interface protocols and information sharing between internal divisions.
• Stay at the forefront of turbomachinery technology through various means.
• Monitor competitor offerings and customer trends.
• Leverage specialized engineering expertise to conduct market assessments.
• Author white papers and technical reports to assist sales and marketing.
• Lead high-level technical presentations to drive brand preference.
