[Hiring] Principal Engineer-Substation @Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC

Role Description

We are looking for a Principal Engineer-Substation on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment (W-2). You will be responsible for all assigned substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).

• Location: Remote position
• Work with the Early-Stage Project Manager to support engineering requirements and scope with the Development Group.
• Report to the onsite manager.
• Some travel required within North America.
• Manage all project long lead major material orders to minimize risk of delays or exceeding the project budget.
• Support Transmission Services during review of interconnection documentation including:
  • System impact studies
  • Facility studies
  • Reactive and harmonic studies
  • Interconnection agreements

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for training, due diligence, and technical oversight of external engineers of record (EOR) for all assigned substation projects.
• Ensure compliance with:
  • Generation interconnection agreements
  • Scope of work documents
  • Project specifications
  • Site specific design requirements
  • Applicable industry codes and standards, including IEEE, NESC, and ASCE
• Coordinate with other project partners to develop and secure a substation site.
• Support any engineering updates, data, and permits necessary to design and build the substation.
• Communicate with respective transmission owners/operators/ISOs to ensure project deliverables meet specific off-taker requirements.
• Work collaboratively with project engineering resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities, work plans, and lines of demarcation.
• Ensure projects are efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely implemented in accordance with department processes, procedures, industry standards, and policies.
• Support assigned project commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives.
• Support Legal in any regulatory filings, depositions, and/or hearings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Must have 7+ years experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects.
• Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience.
• PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline is helpful.

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills, is estimated to be $66.00/hr. to $71.00/hr.
