[Hiring] Engineering Manager, Switchboard @GitLab

Role Description

Lead the Switchboard team, which owns the Tenant management product for Dedicated environments. This team is diverse in skills (Frontend, Backend and Reliability engineers) and owns the product end to end. The product enables self-service and workflow automations for customers and internal operators of our large scale Dedicated tenant fleet.

• Lead the fullstack Switchboard team responsible for GitLab Dedicated’s customer-facing control panel, and set clear direction for how the team delivers and evolves that product.
• Hire and develop a high-performing team where team members can thrive and produce results with quality and speed.
• Partner with Technical Team Leads to provide direction and act as final decision-maker and unblocker of the team to move forward fast.
• Partner closely with Product and Design on the customer-facing control panel, including wireframes and UI direction for external users.
• Own planning with the Product Manager, including priorities, dependencies, and the quarterly delivery epic.
• Ensure fast, high quality and cross-functional execution across frontend, backend, UX, product, and technical writing.
• Drive improvements in quality, security, and performance.
• Support the team’s mission of enabling GitLab Dedicated customers to manage their tenant environments while reducing manual operations on the large scale Dedicated fleet.

Qualifications

• Proven track record building and owning large-scale distributed services, with the technical depth to dive into architecture and guide the team on technical strategy.
• Experience in driving operational excellence and you've owned services running at four-nines (99.99%) SLOs and know what it takes to keep them there.
• Experience leveraging AI tooling to boost team productivity, with real lessons learned from both wins and missteps.
• A history of building and managing high-performing, accountable team cultures, including managing out when necessary.
• Comfort driving complex projects to completion without relying on a dedicated TPM.
• Experience leading distributed and remote teams effectively.
