Role Description

The Engineering Manager, Mammography leads the engineering team behind Mammo Dx, DeepHealth's FDA- and CE-cleared breast cancer detection AI for 2D mammography and 3D tomosynthesis, within the Clinical AI organization that brings together engineering, AI, clinical, and regulatory teams across the US and Europe. The role also acts as Technical Delivery Manager for the team, owning delivery of every release from plan to production. Working with the Mammo product lead, QRC, and US teams, the Engineering Manager, Mammography ensures the right software reaches the right sites on time, with the quality a medical device requires. The role reports to the Software Engineering Manager, Clinical AI Devices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience (required).
  • 6+ years in software engineering, with a solid technical background (backend, cloud or data-heavy systems) (required).
  • 2+ years managing engineering teams (required).
  • Proven track record delivering software releases end to end: planning, QA, deployment and support (required).
  • Experience running delivery in a structured environment (regulated industry, enterprise B2B or on-premise deployments) (required).
  • Good understanding of modern engineering practices: CI/CD, cloud environments (AWS or GCP), containerized deployments (required).
  • The right to work in France or the Netherlands (required).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a focus on team collaboration and ownership (required).
  • Ability to mentor and organize a team of senior engineers (required).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills (required).
  • Structured and reliable: people can count on plans and follow-up (required).
  • Comfortable working remotely, asynchronously, and across European and US time zones (required).
  • Fluent in English (required).
  • Preferred: Experience in medical device software (strong plus).
  • Preferred: Knowledge of DICOM and radiology workflows (PACS, RIS, modalities, HL7).
  • Preferred: Experience with radiology AI, ideally mammography.
  • Preferred: Experience working with US-based teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Lead and mentor a team of 3 to 4 engineers; support their technical and professional growth.
  • Set clear goals, run regular 1:1s and performance reviews, and give constructive feedback.
  • Recruit, onboard and retain great engineers.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Own the Mammo release plan jointly with the product lead: scope, sizing, milestones and monthly release tracking.
  • Drive each release end to end: planning, development, verification, regulatory sign-off, deployment and post-release follow-up.
  • Align the Mammo team's delivery practices, processes and tools with the Clinical AI standards.
  • Make sure test setups are ready so product can run functional validation on time.
  • Contribute to the 3- and 6-month roadmap rituals and keep delivery commitments predictable.
  • Work with QRC on regulatory impact assessments for every change.
  • Communicate status, risks and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Coordinate with platform, AI and data teams on dependencies.
  • Take part in design and architecture reviews, challenge estimates and unblock the team.
  • Keep a strong grasp of the system without writing production code day to day.

Benefits

  • This position requires domestic and international travel up to 10%, mainly to the US and within Europe.
  • Remote, based in France or the Netherlands. Regular collaboration with US teams requires afternoon overlap with US time zones.
  • The employee must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Salary

  • Paris: 60,000-80,000 EURO
  • Netherlands: 70,000-90,000 EURO
