[Hiring] Engineering Manager @Karbon

Role Description

As an Engineering Manager for Engagements to Payments (E2P), you will lead a team of 8 frontend and backend engineers and report to our VP of Engineering. This isn’t a hands-on coding role, but you’ll need a strong technical background to guide design decisions, weigh up trade-offs and earn the team’s trust.

• Hire, onboard and grow the team, with clear expectations and regular feedback.
• Raise the bar on technical quality: clear boundaries, sound designs and high operational standards.
• Improve delivery speed and quality by reducing lead time and change failure rate, with customers front and centre.
• Own reliability with the team: SLOs, observability, system health and blameless incident reviews.
• Work with Product and Tech Leads to plan and deliver, balancing new features, improvements, bugs and maintenance.
• Give the team autonomy with clear goals and accountability, and build strong relationships with other teams.

Qualifications

• A background as a Senior or above IC before moving into management.
• 2+ years as an Engineering Manager.
• A track record of improving quality and speed through technical and process change.
• A strong understanding of distributed systems and data integrity.
• Clear communication across locations and time zones.

Requirements

• Billing or payments experience (nice to have).
• Experience moving a team toward Continuous Delivery (nice to have).
• Experience leading large technical migrations (nice to have).
