[Hiring] Engineer II – Wastewater @City of Shoreline

Role Description

The City of Shoreline is seeking an experienced wastewater engineer to join a community that is actively planning for growth while investing in the long-term sustainability and resilience of its public infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to play an important role in delivering reliable public services while protecting the environment and public health.

To provide responsible professional and technical engineering, analysis, and project management in support of the City’s Wastewater Utility including:

• Managing projects
• Preparing feasibility studies and technical reports
• Managing consultant contracts
• Developing and meeting project budgets
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with co-workers, departments, outside agencies, and citizens
• Preparing and/or reviewing wastewater plans, specifications, and estimates in support of development and/or capital projects

Qualifications

• Knowledge of principles and practices of professional wastewater engineering
• Wastewater collection system hydraulics
• Wastewater collection system condition assessment and rehabilitation methods
• Infiltration and inflow evaluation and mitigation
• Wastewater utility asset management principles and practices
• Wastewater master planning, capital improvement planning, project prioritization, and long-term utility planning
• Applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, standards, and permitting requirements
• Principles and practices of engineering project management
• Engineering design and construction practices
• Utility financial planning and rate-setting principles
• Geographic information systems and hydraulic modeling systems
• Principles and practices of technical writing and communication

Requirements

• Five years of increasingly responsible experience in managing, planning, designing, or reviewing wastewater projects
• At least three years acting in a lead role in managing projects or programs
• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, planning, architecture, construction management or a related field
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
