[Hiring] Commissioning Site Manager - Lead Field Service Engineer @GE Vernova

Role Description

The commissioning site manager is a fast-paced role, for people who like variation and problem solving, get creative finding effective methods to overcome short- and long-term challenges. This role will require the combination of technical expertise, good interpersonal skills, and fluid operational management to ensure success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business from an accredited university or college; OR an associate’s degree with at least 5 years of field engineering experience; OR a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of relevant field engineering experience
• Minimum of 3 additional years of site installation and commissioning experience in a leadership role
• Ability and willingness to travel 85% of the time
• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and have the ability to obtain reliability and controlled goods clearance within Canada.

• Provide electrical and/or mechanical support to various customers, GE field service engineers or 3rd party contractors.
• Be responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
• Perform troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implement corrective actions.
• Perform installation and commissioning activities at customer site locations.
• Perform a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of GE drives, Power Systems and automation systems.
• Be the single point of contact for the customer at site and be directly responsible for all site operations on Projects including site management, technical advisory services, Field execution performance (quality, schedule, EHS & Cost), customer Net Promoter Score (NPS).
• Lead a team of experienced GE personnel and contractors to achieve the target.
• Responsible to develop field execution strategies, site staffing estimates, customer/constructor meetings, and tender documents.
• Record product issues and provide feedback to Engineering and Quality, identifying ongoing problems and common faults across similar products, analyze risks, establish contingency plans, and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigation action.
• Oversee the subcontracting process, pre-qualifications, and commercial structure; bid packages, negotiation through final award.
• Expertise in overall field operations to ensure process discipline on site and assign site teams based on project requirements to ensure contract requirements are met.
• During execution, monitor project performance in all areas including cost, schedule, technical advisory services, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and quality.
• Oversee that warranty and service obligations are met, including timely delivery, quality, compliance with contract scope, and expected profitability of the service order.
• Other duties may be assigned by management to meet business needs.
