Role Description

The role involves leading the development and approval of concrete mix designs and ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

• Lead the development, evaluation, and approval of concrete mix designs.
• Prepare, review, and maintain concrete material, installation, and construction specifications.
• Prepare, review, and approve concrete-related engineering and construction documents.
• Perform engineering analyses and provide sound engineering judgment for concrete-related issues.
• Coordinate and lead technical discussions with project stakeholders regarding concrete design and compliance.
• Prepare, review, and respond to concrete-related Requests for Information (RFIs) and other technical queries.
• Support concrete construction activities by developing and reviewing concrete placement plans.
• Prepare and maintain design basis documents and technical evaluations for concrete mix design modifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical issues while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree.
• Extensive knowledge of reinforced concrete-related codes and standards (ACI 318, ACI 349, ASTM standards).
• Proven experience in the nuclear construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of high-density concrete mix design, testing, production, placement, and quality control.
• Experience in construction, concrete, and steel construction.

Requirements

• Familiarity with applicable Canadian CSA standards (CSA A23 series, CSA N291, CSA N287 series).
• Experience with radiation shielding concrete.
• Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and containment pressure testing.
• Working knowledge with ASME Section III Division 2, ASME Section III Division 1, and ASME Section XI Division 1.
• Hands-on experience with containment liner design and related engineering activities.
• Knowledge of concrete Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and repair techniques.
