Role Description
The History Teacher will guide students through the study of human history with particular emphasis on Western civilization and the American founding. Instruction emphasizes narrative history, primary sources, and thoughtful inquiry into the philosophical and political ideas that shaped societies.

Students examine historical events, texts, and institutions to better understand the development of culture, government, and civic life.

The teacher fosters historical understanding while encouraging thoughtful reflection on enduring questions about liberty, justice, and civic responsibility.

Instruction should combine narrative teaching, document analysis, and discussion to cultivate historical literacy and critical thinking.

Please note β while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face-to-face attendance will be required several times per year to support in-person state testing and student events.
Qualifications

Bachelorβs degree in History, Political Science, Humanities, or a related field

Strong knowledge of Western civilization and American history

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to lead thoughtful historical discussion
Requirements

Plan and deliver rigorous history instruction aligned with TEKS standards

Teach historical content using narrative instruction, primary sources, and discussion

Guide students in analyzing historical texts and documents
