Role Description

The Center for Excellence in Digital Education (Pitt EDGE) is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to support an ongoing university-wide initiative. This part-time staff position requires a strong foundation in instructional design, digital pedagogy, and online course development.

The Instructional Designer will collaborate with the Pitt EDGE design team to develop high-quality online and hybrid courses for both credit-bearing and non-credit programs. This role involves consulting with University faculty to design engaging, accessible, and effective learning experiences.

• Guide faculty through course design and development
• Analyze online teaching practices
• Recommend instructional strategies and evaluation methods that enhance student learning outcomes
• Apply best practices in online learning, digital accessibility, and copyright/fair use
• Create course development plans
• Edit and organize course materials
• Produce multimedia content
• Build courses in the learning management system
• Leverage emerging educational technologies
• Conduct comprehensive quality assurance reviews to ensure excellence in course delivery

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Instructional Design or equivalent
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in online learning, including higher education experience
• Knowledge of copyright and accessibility law compliance
• Experience with learning management systems/online learning platforms
• Proficiency in Web conferencing tools and multimedia authoring tools
• Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills
