Role Description
Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the course HIST 2Q97: Indigenous-Settler Relations in Canada. This position is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group).
Compensation for Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions is based on qualifications:

Undergraduate rate: $23.30 per hour (effective September 1, 2016) for those without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree.

Graduate rate: $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2016) for those with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree.

Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall include:

Scheduled contact time with students.

Non-classroom time, including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as required.
Qualifications

A four-year Honours B.A. or equivalent in History with a minimum 75% average in History courses.

Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian and Indigenous History.

Previous experience as a teaching assistant in HIST 2Q97 within the last three years.

Evidence of successful previous university-level teaching assistant experience or equivalent.

Demonstrated organizational and effective communication skills, including the ability to explain subject material to students, punctuality in attending classes, and meeting appropriate deadlines.

Working knowledge of Brightspace and Teams, and familiarity with evaluation of electronically submitted assignments.

This course will be taught synchronously online.
