Role Description

Reach University’s Teacher Induction Program strengthens schools by developing and sustaining highly effective equity-driven educators through personalized, collaborative mentoring. We cultivate reflective teaching practices, foster meaningful relationships, and provide holistic support to ensure both teachers and students are uplifted.

A contract mentor is responsible for providing mentorship through collaborative mentorship circles for participating teachers in the Teacher Induction Program at Reach University. Mentors develop strong relationships with participating teachers that are characterized by mutual respect, relational trust, and collaboration. The relationship is the foundation for productive mentorship, which involves supporting teachers with their professional and personal development.

• Facilitating a collaborative mentorship circle with their teachers for a minimum of 30 hours per year (~1 hour per week).
• Providing mentoring, coaching, and support with TIP deliverables (individualized learning plan and inquiry cycles).
• Engaging in a minimum of three to four formal observation cycles per year.
• Having 2 one-on-one sessions with each participating teacher.
• Communicating with teachers to provide asynchronous support in a timely manner.
• Engaging and participating in professional development 3-4 times a year.

Qualifications

• Experience mentoring new teachers.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in education (i.e., school leadership, instructional coaching, professional development facilitation, mentoring).
• A record of accomplished teaching, scholarship, or educational leadership.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience in managing group dynamics.
• Ability to differentiate based on participating teacher’s needs.
• Organized, accountable, and able to facilitate collaboration.
• A Clear California Teaching Credential and three years of documented teaching experience.
• Knowledge of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs) preferred.
