Role Description
The Summer Virtual (Edgenuity for Original Credit) Program will be M-F for 5 weeks and include all holidays. Half days, three hours of instruction and half day for staff. The successful applicant will be able to work the days the program is in operation.
Qualifications

Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2.

Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.

Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
Requirements
-
Must possess current West Virginia certification.

Responsible for planning and implementing Jefferson County Schools’ curriculum based on WV Content Standards and Objectives.

Responsible for implementing adopted and supplemental academic programs through JCS’s virtual environment.

Responsible for implementing 21st Century technology skills.
-
Responsible for planning and implementing inclusion with special education students.
-
May be responsible for planning & implementing designated co-curricular activities and/or programs at the school.

Responsible for administering approved formative assessments.
-
Responsible for planning and implementing tiered instruction for reading and math.
-
Strong working/communication skills with students, parents, and peers.
-
Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning.
-
Meets professional responsibilities.
-
Maintains professional work habits and adheres to the Teacher Code of Conduct.

Willing to implement any other programs designated by principal for school improvement.

Responsible for daily check-ins/morning rituals.
-
Develop and implement virtual lessons appropriate for assigned grade level and follow JCS’s pacing guides.

Required to provide a minimum of four hours of daily live sessions and individual or small group sessions for students.

Provide Art, Music, Physical Education, and Health instruction to elementary virtual students.

Expected to work with the virtual school counselor and administrator to support social and emotional concerns.

Responsible to reach out to students and families if there is a decline in activity or attendance, and/or performance.

Required to attend monthly staff meetings, faculty senate, and other meetings specified by administration.

Required to participate in SAT, IEP, 504 or other meetings and address, implement SAT, IEP & 504 plans to ensure the success of students.

Facilitate testing for students per WVDE requirements.

Integrate and utilize JCS’s Learning Management System for communication, attendance, grading purposes, and general lesson delivery.

Responsible to maintain a daily work log.

May need to include evening hours to support student learning.

Responsible to develop adequate asynchronous lessons for times when they are absent from work.

Includes supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by Principal/Director of Responsive Education.

Salary pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Jefferson County Professional Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.

FLSA Status: Exempt.

Program days: June 15, 2026 - July 24, 2026.

Prep day: June 12, 2026 - 1/2 day.
