Role Description
Faculty Mentors have an academic responsibility to aid Learners in achieving their educational objectives using relevant tools, resources, and materials incorporating Learner needs and real-world contexts. Faculty Mentors also support course, program, and institutional levels of educational outcomes using proper instructional and assessment strategies.

Facilitate courses

Create and/or revise course content, syllabi, and/or related materials

Participate in Learner-related activities

Engage in curriculum development reviews

Assess Learners

Develop their capacities within the Canvas LMS

Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean
Faculty Mentors are charged with:
-
Responding to discussion posts and Learner inquiries within 24-48 hours
-
Providing substantive feedback within 5-7 calendar days on assignments
-
Submitting final grades within seven calendar days of the course end date
-
Serving on doctoral project committees and providing feedback on drafts within 10 business days
-
Demonstrating expert knowledge in oneβs discipline
-
Maintaining gradebooks and other documentation within Canvas
-
Attending virtual orientations and organizational events during assigned academic terms
-
Demonstrating the ability to work with diverse student populations
-
Demonstrating effective problem-solving skills during verbal and/or written communications
Qualifications
-
Terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution in psychology, clinical psychology, or counseling psychology

Active License: Licensed Psychologist
-
Active License: Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC), OR Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), OR Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC)

Professional experience related to the mentoring assignment and an accredited college degree equal to or higher than the degree sought by the assigned Learner

A minimum of three years of online teaching experience

Previous experience with online instruction and learning management systems is required

Experience with Canvas LMS is preferred
Requirements

Ability to analyze and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, and technical material related to the academic discipline

Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and develop syllabi

Ability to effectively present information both written and verbally

Proficiency with Office 365 (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Familiarity with CANVAS or a similar LMS

Able to use Microsoft Teams and Zoom

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to practical situations
-
Familiarity with various research methodologies (Qualitative, Quantitative, Mixed Methods)
-
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
