Role Description

We are seeking an experienced, organised and supportive STEM tutor to assist a bright 14-year-old learner with catching up on the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum and preparing for Year 1 examinations.

• The learner joined the programme midway through the academic year and needs structured support to close curriculum gaps, strengthen subject knowledge and develop effective study habits and examination techniques.
• The ideal candidate will combine strong subject knowledge with a structured, patient teaching approach that builds confidence and encourages independent learning.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assess existing knowledge and identify curriculum gaps.
• Develop and implement a structured catch-up and examination preparation programme.
• Provide one-on-one tuition in IGCSE Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
• Teach Cambridge IGCSE examination techniques, including command words, mark allocation and answer structure.
• Develop effective study habits, revision plans, organisation and time-management skills.
• Use past papers and timed exercises to build examination readiness.
• Track progress and provide regular feedback to parents.
• Recommend appropriate tuition hours and learning priorities.

Qualifications

• Strong academic background in Mathematics and the sciences.
• Previous experience tutoring or teaching the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum.
• Ability to support multiple STEM subjects.
• Strong planning, communication and organisational skills.
• A patient, reliable and structured approach to teaching.

Requirements

• A teaching qualification or relevant STEM degree (advantageous).
• Experience supporting neurodivergent learners, including those with Autism and ADHD (advantageous).
• Familiarity with Cambridge IGCSE syllabi, past papers and marking schemes (advantageous).
