Role Description

The Sessional Lecturer provides instruction to graduate students in the Faculty of Business and IT. The primary responsibility is to develop and teach a theoretically, methodologically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level. The course will be delivered using a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes:

• Inclusive teaching and learning strategies
• Assessments

The Sessional Lecturer will prepare, deliver, and grade all course material and assignments and be available for consultation with students during and after the course session.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and is subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement. Candidates must certify that they are legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated excellent teaching contributions with a proven aptitude for teaching at the graduate level.
• Proven commitment to providing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching graduate students in a marketing program.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the Learning Management System, Canvas.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver classes remotely using online modalities such as Kaltura Media and Google Meets.
• Proven experience managing large classes and diverse populations.
• Experience coordinating and supervising Teaching Assistants as applicable.
• Excellent organizational skills for managing course delivery, marking assignments and exams, and responding to student inquiries in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Hold a PhD or DBA with a focus on marketing; OR
• Hold a PhD in a business-related matter and an MBA with a focus on marketing; OR
• Hold a PhD in a business-related matter and at least five years in a senior marketing management position.

Experience

• Preference for candidates with teaching experience in a graduate program.
• Preference for candidates with demonstrated teaching excellence in Marketing in a post-secondary environment.
• Competence can be demonstrated by submitting course evaluations and/or formal peer evaluations.
• Preference for candidates with business experience in the engineering industry.
• Priority for Internal Applicants who have taught any course for the University in three different sessions in the past thirty-six months, provided they meet the requirements outlined in the job posting.
