Role Description
Reporting to the Director - Learning, the Senior Instructional Designer designs and develops accessible, high-quality learning assets for online, blended, and facilitated delivery. This role requires strong instructional design expertise, practical experience applying adult learning principles, and the ability to create learner-focused solutions that meet client requirements, accessibility standards, and project quality expectations.

Designs engaging, accessible, and measurable learning experiences for digital, blended, and facilitated environments.

Collaborates effectively with global project teams, including other Instructional Designers, Graphic Designers, Developers, QA reviewers, Project Managers, and client stakeholders.

Applies established instructional design, development, review, and accessibility processes to support consistent project execution and high-quality delivery.

Confirms and applies client, brand, writing, development, and accessibility guidelines, including WCAG-aligned practices and screen reader considerations.

Works closely with clients to conduct working sessions and review sessions and to address needs and resolve issues as required.

Interviews and collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).

Creates design documents and storyboards for digital and non-digital learning assets for both online and facilitated delivery.

Ensures overall quality assurance for learning assets, including instructional design, editorial, functional, accessibility, and screen reader reviews using tools such as JAWS where required.
Qualifications

Bachelorβs degree or other equivalent program or experience.

A degree or diploma in Instructional Design, Adult Education, or eLearning Development, or a combination of working as an Instructional Designer with related formal training, is preferred.

Minimum of 8β10 years of progressive instructional design experience, including at least 6 years designing enterprise-level digital learning, eLearning curriculum, and blended learning solutions for global or North American clients.

Must be able to independently lead analysis, design documentation, storyboard development, SME collaboration, review cycles, accessibility considerations, and quality assurance with limited oversight.

Hands-on experience designing for development in Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360, including scenario-based learning, interactions, knowledge checks, assessments, branching logic, responsive course structures, and accessibility-aware design specifications.

Demonstrated experience designing accessible learning assets and applying accessibility standards throughout analysis, design, development, review, and QA.

Hands-on experience with screen reader testing using JAWS is strongly preferred; experience documenting accessibility defects and working with developers to resolve issues is an asset.

Advanced working knowledge of Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360.

Excellent understanding of and ability to apply ADDIE methodologies.

Strong practical knowledge of accessibility requirements for digital learning, including WCAG principles, keyboard navigation, alt text, reading order, colour contrast, focus order, and accessible assessment design.

Experience reviewing and testing digital learning assets using assistive technologies and screen readers, including JAWS.

High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to content analysis, storyboard quality, accessibility validation, and defect resolution.
