Relief Health Promoter

Location: Peterborough and throughout the Four Counties

Status: Relief

Wage: $100-$200 per session, dependent on the level of the session as per Relief Health Promoter Grading Tool

Under the direction of the Manager of Community Engagement and Education, this position delivers pre-approved public education/promotion trainings. The education may include:

• General information about mental illness
• Stigma and mental wellness management

Audiences will most often include (but not limited to):

• Students
• Non-profit groups
• Church/religious groups
• Community groups

Sessions may be delivered either virtually or in-person, based upon audience request and trainer availability. Sessions may occur both inside and outside of traditional office hours, including some evenings and weekends.

Please note that as a relief position, you will still be required to work your full hours in your home position. Please discuss this with your current manager when considering your application.

The Relief Health Promoter role consists of three distinct levels:

• Level 3: Allows for the delivery of all Level 3 and below sessions.
• Level 2: Allows for the delivery of all Level 2 and below sessions.
• Level 1: Allows for the delivery of all Level 1 and below sessions.

Successful candidates will receive their Level based upon the Relief Health Promoter Grading Tool.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of post-secondary education (diploma or degree) in a relevant field is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Social Work, Psychology, Health Promotion) is an asset.
• Master’s degree in relevant field (Social Work, Psychology, Health Promotion) is an asset.
• Current Certification as a trainer in ASIST, Living Life to the Fullest, SafeTALK, and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an asset.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in the delivery of mental health education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mental health, mental illness, stress management, anti-stigma, workplace wellness, mental health system issues, and health promotion principles.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the community and its resources.
• Demonstrated ability to foster ongoing mental health awareness within the community.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Professional, approachable, and engaging communication and presentation skills.
• Good knowledge of technology related to presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a high-performing team.
• Competency in the use of all Microsoft Programs.
• Ability to articulate and demonstrate a commitment to the values, objectives, and vision of the agency.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Automobile in good repair and insurance coverage as required by agency policy.
• Satisfactory police records search.
• Satisfactory references.
• Proof of receipt of full COVID-19 vaccine.
• Ability to work remotely, with reliable home internet service and necessary technology.
