[Hiring] Part-Time Professor - Organizational Communication Theories @University of Ottawa

Role Description

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor for the course titled "Organizational Communication Theories" (CMN5131) in the Department of Communication.

• Course Description: Different approaches (e.g., interactionist, narrative, critical) to organizational communication research, focusing on benchmark studies and key researchers.
• Role of theories in understanding communication challenges faced by contemporary organizations.
• Issues related to communication networks, organizational learning, management of diversity, computerization of organizations, and management of risks, among others.
• Course Schedule: Wednesdays from 19:00 to 22:00 via web conference.

Qualifications

• PH.D. in communication.
• Research area directly related to organizational communication.
• Publications related to the field of organizational communication.
• Excellent knowledge of organizational communication theories.
• Teaching experience related to the course (an asset).

Requirements

• Applications must be received BEFORE 2026/06/29.
• Expected enrolment: 20 students.
• Number of credits: 3.
• Work hours: 39.
• Hourly Rate: $239.47 (2024-2025) for teaching.
• The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.
• These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay.
• Rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified; retro pay will be issued after ratification.
