Role Description
The Department of Teacher Education, in the Sanford College of Education at the National University invites applications for part-time faculty in Inspired Teaching and Learning. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of or potential for excellence in teaching in their field and a commitment to serving the university’s diverse adult student body. This position primarily works closely with the Academic Program Director and other faculty within the program and contributes to ensuring program quality, student engagement, and success.
Essential Job Duties:

Provide substantive, timely feedback to students on various assessment activities.

Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment.

Complete required tasks on deadlines (e.g., final grades, assessment, grading rubrics, input for grade appeals, etc.).

Maintain appropriate professional training and/or scholarly activities, when applicable.

Provide feedback to the course lead regarding the course content.

Identify at-risk students and collaborate with student services.
Qualifications

Minimum master's degree in education or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Current and active California Single Subject Teaching Credential.

Knowledge of California frameworks, standards, assessment systems, and current educational initiatives.

5+ years of secondary (grades 6-12) classroom teaching experience in a Single Subject area (e.g., Art, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, World Languages, Physical Education, Theatre, etc.).

3+ years (within the past 5 years) of secondary classroom teaching demonstrating current knowledge of instructional practices, student engagement strategies, curriculum standards, and assessment practices.

Experience mentoring, coaching, supervising, or supporting teacher candidates, beginning teachers, or interns.

Higher education teaching experience in teacher preparation, particularly in methods, clinical practice, supervision, or field experience courses.

Experience using data to improve instruction and candidate performance.

Knowledge of teacher performance assessments (CalTPA or similar).

Experience supporting diverse student populations including English learners and students with disabilities.

Experience working with adult learners and facilitating professional learning for educators.

Demonstrated proficiency with instructional technology and educational AI tools including the ability to model responsible, ethical, and effective integration into teaching and learning.
Requirements

Experience serving in teacher leadership roles such as department chair, instructional coach, mentor teacher, PLC leader, curriculum leader, grade-level lead, or similar positions.

Experience collaborating with schools, districts, and community partners to support teacher preparation.
