  • Faculty Support and Professional Learning
    • Provide faculty-facing guidance, templates, and resources for using courseware effectively in math courses.
    • Support partners co-design and potentially facilitate workshops, webinars, and small-group sessions to support instructors in implementing redesigned courses and using courseware analytics.
    • Offer individualized or small-group consultations with math faculty and instructional staff throughout the implementation process.
  • Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
    • Monitor course and courseware for alignment, consistency, and usability across institutions and terms.
    • Collaborate with partners and evaluation teams to interpret student outcome data and analytics, and use findings to inform iterative course improvements.
    • Document design strategies, examples, and lessons learned that can be scaled across institutions and shared with the broader field.
  • Collaboration with Partners and Project Team
    • Work closely with Gardner Institute, TPSE Math, WestEd, and Every Learner staff to ensure instructional design work is integrated with Calculus course redesign, disciplinary guidance, and evaluation activities.
    • Contribute to cross-institution communities of practice by sharing instructional design insights, artifacts, and examples.
    • Coordinate with the Project Manager to align timelines, milestones, and support activities.
  • Research and Landscape Analysis
    • Conduct landscape analyses of courseware products used in Calculus I, including features, pedagogical models, analytics capabilities, accessibility, and integration considerations.
    • Design and implement processes to gather and analyze feedback from faculty using current or prior courseware (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups, artifact review).
    • Synthesize findings into summaries, memos, and presentations that inform courseware comparison, implementation strategies, and ongoing course redesign.
    • Collaborate with evaluation and analytics partners to align instructional design insights with broader research and evidence-gathering activities.
  • Performs other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of Every Learner Everywhere and the BEACON Implementation Program.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design principles, learning science, and evidence-based teaching practices, with specific application to mathematics instruction.
  • Experience designing and implementing courses in at least one major learning management system (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L/Brightspace); ability to learn and work across multiple LMS environments.
  • Experience with adaptive or AI-enabled courseware or similar digital learning tools, including integration with LMS platforms.
  • Strong technical skills and comfort working with digital learning tools, analytics dashboards, and course configuration settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, instructional staff, and cross-functional teams in higher education.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills, including the ability to translate complex design concepts into practical guidance.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to improving student outcomes in mathematics and supporting high-quality digital learning experiences.
