Role Description
Our Virtual High School Teachers are responsible for ensuring that students achieve mastery of learning objectives. They provide guidance, instruction and support, manage the learning process and focus on studentsโ individual needs. The Virtual Teacher is a highly qualified instructional teacher responsible for the delivery of specified course content in an online, virtual environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Orienting students to their courses and communicating course and school requirements.

Support homeroom students with general school information, schedule set-up, monitor student attendance and progress throughout the program.

Provide small group and direct instruction to students of course content.

Participate in instructional coaching and develop instruction to address coaching goals.

Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.

Implement studentโs IEPs and attend IEP conferences as needed.

Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions as deemed appropriate.

Face to Face meetings with students and teaching adult as scheduled.

Grade student work and enter grades into an online grade book in a timely manner.

Ensure all communication with families is documented according to school policies.

Meet with regional lead teacher and/or curriculum specialist to discuss student data and set goals and actions for remediation.

Follow all school policies.

Participate in State Testing, including proctoring and organizing testing materials.

Contribute to and complete student progress and report cards.

Hold Parent Teacher Conferences/Check In Calls with homeroom families quarterly.

Communicate with parents as needed.

Collaborate with other instructional teachers and support team.

Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families.

Travel regularly within and between assigned geographic areas to support students.

Communicate with teachers, support staff, and Administration as needed.

Must attend all in-person meetings as scheduled.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Reside in the state of California.

Bachelor's degree.

Strong content and subject-matter knowledge.

Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Organization and time-management skills.

Excellent writing and grammar skills.

Flexible schedule.
-
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Requirements
-
Permanent California Residence.
-
Valid/current Preliminary/Clear/Life California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Science: Physics.

California English Learner Authorization- Issued by CTC.

The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home-based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. We use K12, inc. as our curriculum provider for the basis of instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Engageli platform.
