Role Description

The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. This position supports high school students in achieving on-time graduation and College and Career Readiness by:

• Monitoring student data
• Identifying students at risk
• Tracking progress toward graduation and post-secondary goals

The role collaborates closely with:

• Counselors
• Teachers
• Administrators
• Students
• Families

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Maintain student database related to College Career Readiness indicators
• Utilize early warning indicators to identify at-risk students
• Create a database of at-risk students and track progress
• Work closely with staff to develop strategies and initiatives
• Assist in the collection and data entry of necessary documentation
• Review grad plans and communicate concerns
• Track post-graduation activity for assigned caseload students
• Communicate with withdrawing students to ensure enrollment
• Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
• Disseminate necessary student information
• Collaborate with peers for a positive student experience
• Attend training and professional development
• Proctor state testing as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills
• Detail oriented
• Able to balance and complete multiple projects
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-directed but comfortable working as part of a team
• Proficient with the school’s graduation requirements
• Familiar with reviewing transcripts and grades
• Bachelor’s degree or two years’ experience in school counseling preferred

Requirements

• Full time: Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm
• Hourly Rate: $22.25
• New Hires: Start at Tier/Year 1 of the salary schedule
