  • Demonstrated experience supervising and developing highly skilled professional staff, setting expectations, delegating responsibility, managing performance, providing feedback, and building accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and grant-funded programs, including workplans, deliverables, metrics, reporting, budgets, timelines, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Excellent public speaking, training, facilitation, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate complex information to varied audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through complexity and change, balancing competing priorities and providing structure and direction in a fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively across teams and sections, clarify roles and responsibilities, navigate competing priorities, and build constructive working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in personnel matters and sensitive organizational, legal, and policy matters.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for trainings, meetings, conferences, and other organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Lead annual planning for TTA in alignment with CLINIC's organizational priorities, affiliate needs, grant commitments, and strategic plan.
  • Provide active leadership, supervision, coaching, and accountability for a team of highly skilled professionals, establishing clear roles, expectations, deadlines, and decision-making authority.
  • Develop staff strengths and leadership capacity, ensure regular feedback and professional development is provided, and foster ownership of projects and substantive work.
  • Ensure TTA maintains a strong focus on both substantive immigration law and the development, management, and sustainability of nonprofit ILS programs.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen affiliate programs through program management support, DOJ Recognition and Accreditation, operational sustainability, leadership development, and other identified needs.
  • Evaluate existing programs and services and recommend where TTA should expand, redesign, collaborate, or discontinue work based on affiliate need, impact, organizational priorities, staff capacity, and operational feasibility.
  • Develop and manage TTA's annual operational plan and budget; monitor performance, spending, staffing capacity, sustainability, and continuity of essential work.

  • Use affiliate feedback, technical assistance trends, service data, recurring questions, and developments in immigration law and practice to identify emerging needs and shape trainings, resources, program-management support, administrative advocacy, and cross-sectional responses.
  • Direct the delivery of legal and program-management technical assistance to CLINIC affiliates, ensuring services are accurate, timely, accessible, consistent, and responsive.
  • Establish and monitor systems for coverage, assignment, escalation, referrals, and quality assurance across technical assistance channels, including Ask the Experts, Affiliate Support Forms, DOJ Recognition and Accreditation support, and other affiliate-support mechanisms.
  • Ensure trainers and technical assistance providers are appropriately prepared, supported, and equipped to deliver high-quality services and build staff capacity to serve as trainers, facilitators, and subject-matter leaders.
  • Lead the programmatic implementation of TTA grants, ensuring grant commitments are translated into clear workplans, project management, staffing assignments, timelines, metrics, and measurable outcomes.
  • Participate in grant development and renewal by identifying program needs, assessing staff capacity and operational feasibility, and supporting programmatic scopes of work, proposals, and budgets.
  • Monitor grant and project performance, identify delays, capacity concerns, or implementation risks early, and take corrective action or elevate significant concerns when necessary.
  • Working closely with advancement, ensure accurate and timely programmatic grant reporting and appropriate documentation of activities, deliverables, outcomes, and required metrics.
  • Monitor the relationship between grant commitments, section priorities, available staffing, and budget resources to ensure commitments are realistic and sustainable.
