Role Description
NGI is seeking a highly capable Creative Content Specialist (Education) to drive the development and execution of its educational content. This role is responsible for shaping what content is created, how it is communicated, and how it reaches educators and students.

Lead scripting, content direction, and digital distribution.

Work closely with a curriculum consultant to ensure all materials meet provincial education standards.

Act as the central force behind NGI’s content output, ensuring it is engaging, accurate, and classroom-ready.
Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Development

Lead the development of visual concepts and scripts for 5-minute educational videos to hand over to our production consultants.

Translate complex topics in personal finance, government, and economics into clear, engaging content.

Use AI tools to accelerate research, scripting, editing, and production workflows.

Ensure all content is accurate, non-partisan, and aligned with NGI’s mission.

Curriculum Collaboration

Work alongside curriculum experts to align content with provincial standards.

Support the development of student workbooks, teacher guides, and assessment materials.

Contribute to curriculum mapping and documentation for classroom integration.

Assist in preparing materials for review or approval by education authorities where required.

Creative Direction & Production Oversight

Direct the overall creative approach for video and digital content, working with consultants on media production.

Maintain consistent branding standards, tone, and quality across all outputs.

Manage timelines from concept through to final delivery.

Website & Digital Publishing

Oversee publishing of modules on the NGI website.

Organize content for a clear and intuitive user experience.

Ensure content is optimized for discoverability (SEO best practices).

Social Media & Distribution

Develop and execute content distribution strategies across major platforms.

Manage social media presence and posting cadence.
-
Optimize content using SEO, SEM, and emerging discovery channels.
-
Track performance metrics and refine strategy based on analytics.
Qualifications

Education or training in media production, communications, marketing, or a related field.

Portfolio demonstrating content creation preferred.

Strong writing and storytelling ability.

Experience using AI tools for research, scripting, or content production.

Familiarity with website management platforms (e.g., WordPress).

Understanding of SEO, SEM, and digital content distribution strategies.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
Compensation & Structure

Part-time with the possible extension to full-time.

Remote within Canada or based in Edmonton.

$20.00 – $30.00 per hour based on experience.

Company Description
The Next Gen Institute (NGI) is a Canadian nonprofit initiative focused on equipping young Canadians with the knowledge they need to understand personal finance, government finance, and civic responsibility.

NGI develops modular, curriculum-aligned educational resources that teachers can integrate directly into existing courses such as CALM, Social Studies, Civics, and Economics.

Each module includes a professionally produced 5-minute educational video, a student workbook, a teacher’s guide, curriculum mapping aligned to provincial standards, and assessment materials.

All resources are provided free of charge to educators across Canada, beginning with a 2026 pilot launch in Alberta.
