[Hiring] College Level Writing and Research for Writing Adjunct @Indiana Wesleyan University

Role Description

Instructor must be able to guide adult learners in accomplishing basic and advanced college writing and research skills using educational technology. Must be able to demonstrate research proficiency and application of effective writing strategies, as well as direct students in a manner that helps them apply biblical principles to writing concepts. Must be able to apply APA rules to writing, teach concepts of critical analysis, and provide in-depth assistance throughout the writing process. Must be prepared to help students build a foundational skill set that can be adapted to their varying program disciplines.

• Facilitate learning in an online adult education environment
• Check and prepare course before it opens, including posting assignment due dates
• Post announcements at least weekly
• Provide timely, substantive feedback on student work
• Communicate with students via email, course discussions, and be available for Teams meetings (Essential)

Qualifications

• According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
• Preferred: Doctorate in English, or other doctorate with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours (500-level or above) in courses with the prefix ENG, WRI, LIT, or COMP.
• Required: A master’s degree with minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in English.

Requirements

• Experience teaching adult learners using an online learning management system is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of online educational delivery tools.
• Demonstrated teaching abilities.
• Demonstrated higher education experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft products.
• Demonstrated knowledge of adult learners.
• Demonstrated a commitment to building and cultivating diversity through leadership, teaching and/or service.
