Role Description

The Department of Accounting and Information Systems at New Mexico State University is seeking to fill a 9-month, non-tenure track Assistant Professor position in the area of Information Systems. Applicants are expected to work full-time for NMSU during the contract period and fully remote candidates will be considered for the position. The position will start January 14, 2027.

• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel and participation in in-person events may be required to support student and program success.
• Location Preference: Candidates residing in New Mexico are preferred but not required. This remote position may be performed from most U.S. locations with a dedicated, distraction-free workspace and reliable high-speed internet access.
• Work Eligibility: This position is not eligible for employment in CA, CO, IN, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, WA, or MN.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• The position carries a course load of 12 credit hours per semester.
• Active participation in service duties related to the department and college is expected.
• Online course delivery (asynchronous or synchronous) is required.
• The successful candidate will teach students enrolled in the NMSU Global Campus.
• Contribute to an educational environment that supports learning for individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Required Education and Experience: Candidates for this position are required to hold a master’s or Ph.D. degree in Information Systems or a related area from an AACSB International accredited business school. Candidates with degrees from other well-recognized and accredited schools (e.g., ABET accreditation) offering degrees in related disciplines may be considered.
• Candidates with a master’s degree must have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Those with a Ph.D. must have experience that will qualify them to meet AACSB academic qualifications.

• Preferred Qualifications: The candidate should be able to teach undergraduate courses in information systems in an online delivery method.
