Role Description
Michigan Virtual seeks accomplished executive leaders to serve on its nonprofit Board of Directors. Acting as Ambassadors, Board members provide strategic governance, fiduciary oversight, and executive counsel while helping advance innovation in learning, teaching, and educational technology across Michigan.

Core Board Responsibilities:

Mission and strategy: Help refine, protect, and advance the organization’s public-purpose mission.

Fiduciary oversight: Approve annual budgets, review financial performance, audits, risk, and sustainability.

Executive partnership: Support, advise, and evaluate the President & CEO through the Board’s established processes.

Policy and accountability: Ensure ethical conduct, transparency, compliance, and effective governance practices.

External leadership: Open doors, build relationships, and strengthen partnerships in strategic areas.

Inclusive stewardship: Bring diverse perspectives, lived experience, and disciplined judgment to decisions that affect learners statewide.

Established in 1998, Michigan Virtual is a nationally recognized educational non-profit organization that serves as a statewide champion for online and digital learning in Michigan. Headquartered in Lansing, we serve K-12 students, educators, schools, and districts across all of Michigan.
