Role Description

Are you a biochemistry educator with a knack for making challenging topics clear, engaging, and easy to understand? UWorld, a leading provider of high-stakes exam preparation, is seeking an experienced Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert and Content Developer to contribute to our MCAT educational materials on a remote, contract/consulting basis.

This is an opportunity to apply your subject-matter expertise and teaching experience to the development of high-quality learning resources used by students preparing for the MCAT. The ideal consultant is an excellent scientific writer and educator who can translate complex biochemistry concepts into accurate, approachable, and instructionally effective content.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to the development and refinement of educational materials, focusing on MCAT Biochemistry and related Chemistry topics.
• Create original exam-style questions and answer explanations for UWorld's digital MCAT Biochemistry question bank.
• Develop digital and print educational materials, including:
  • Video lecture slides and scripts
  • Educational flashcards
  • Biochemistry and Chemistry review books and study guides
  • Other curricular materials as needed
• Ensure content is accurate, clear, and aligned with applicable MCAT content specifications and educational objectives.
• Apply sound instructional principles to make complex scientific concepts accessible to students.
• Review and refine existing content, incorporating editorial and subject-matter feedback.
• Respond to content feedback and make revisions to ensure materials remain accurate, precise, and instructionally effective.
• Collaborate remotely with editors, illustrators, and other content professionals throughout the development and review process.
• Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of UWorld's proprietary educational materials.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Biochemistry, Biological Chemistry, or a related biomedical science field; PhD preferred.
• Demonstrated experience writing, editing, or reviewing academic or instructional content.
• 2+ years of teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level.
• 2+ years of scientific research experience.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly.

Requirements

• Experience writing multiple-choice questions, answer explanations, or test-preparation materials.
• Experience with instructional design, curriculum development, or educational content development.
• Familiarity with the MCAT and its content specifications.
• Experience developing educational materials for digital learning platforms.
